SABC cameraman Amos Sibongile Mabuza (57) has died after a long illness; remembered for capturing footage of Mozambican floods in 2000.

The SABC News cameraman Amos Sibongile Mabuza (57) died on 16 November after a long illness and was buried at the Joe Slovo cemetery in Soweto at the end of last month.

Amos Sibongile Mabuza, known as Bra Amza, who started working at the SABC in 1982 will be remembered as the SABC TV News cameraman who captured arresting images shown worldwide of the Mozambican floods 14 years ago in 2000 despite mechanical helicopter problems.

Amos Sibongile Mabuza who won several awards was appointed SABC TV cameraman and sound technician in 1984; a decade later he moved to Mpumalanga to work for the South African public broadcaster from there.
