BREAKING. More public protest action planned against SABC

You're reading it here first. The TV Industry Emergency Coalition (TVIEC), the group formed in March to collectively confront the SABC about non-payment to producers (as well as other issues) are planning GUERRILLA THEATRE PROTEST action against the SABC.

After the public protest March in July organised by the TVIEC the group has now established itself in a powerful lobbying position. Earlier the week I spoke to SEVERAL more producers and heads of film studios aroud the country. The situation regarding backscaled commissioning of shows and non-payment is honestly dire and getting more so every day.

So, the TVIEC is planning a follow-up picket with plans of more at regular intervals. The plan is to stage industrial theatre that depicts the death of local stories and local content. All TVIEC members are invited to join. ''Actors, writers, service providers and crew need to come forward and tell their stories. The focus will also be on viewers. Soon SABC will be serving us a diet of repeats.''
